Connelly Springs, NC (November 4, 2023) – Two people lost their lives as a result of a fatal truck accident that occurred on Thursday morning in Burke County. The accident was reported just before noon on November 2.
According to reports from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a 2009 Honda Odyssey was traveling west on Interstate 40 when it collided with a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer in a construction zone near Old North Carolina Highway 10.
Two people in the Honda were fatally injured. The victims were identified as 44-year-old Ryan Lee Childers and 44-year-old Melissa Louise Childers. The two victims were pronounced deceased on-site.
The crash is actively under investigation.
