Dorchester Co., SC (March 7, 2024) – The Dorchester County coroner’s office confirmed that the victims of the fatal accident on Tuesday morning have been identified as 87-year-old Fred Thompson and 37-year-old Zachary Godfrey.
Preliminary reports show that just after 2:30 a.m. on March 5, a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck was heading east on Dorchester Road. For unknown reasons, the vehicle collided head-on with a 2008 BMW sedan. The incident prompted the closure of the roadway near Middleton Boulevard. Two people involved in the accident, identified as Thompson and Godfrey, were severely hurt. The two victims were transported to area hospitals, where they both passed away from their injuries. The incident is under investigation.
