Edgefield, SC (December 16, 2023) – Emergency officials confirmed that one person lost their life as a result of a multi-vehicle accident that took place on Saturday, December 16. At approximately 10:00 a.m., the South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene of an automobile accident that took place on North Martintown Road.
According to SCHP reports, two BMW motorcycles were heading eastbound on South Carolina Highway 283. For unknown reasons, the vehicles collided with a Chevrolet pickup truck, which was traveling on the same roadway in the opposite direction. Reports show that the pickup truck was making a turn onto North Martintown Road at the time of the accident. One of the motorcyclists suffered fatal injuries in the accident and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second motorcyclist was injured and transported by ambulance to a local hospital for emergency care. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured. At this time, the accident is being investigated.
