Fayetteville, NC (January 21, 2024) – The Fayetteville Police Department confirmed that 59-year-old Rex Smith Jr lost his life as a result of a pedestrian accident that took place on Thursday.
Authorities reported that Smith was struck by a vehicle while walking in the 3000 block of Bragg Boulevard. A vehicle was traveling on the roadway through the intersection with Fort Bragg Road when it struck Smith and one additional pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the accident. Smith was fatally injured as a result of the crash and pronounced deceased by authorities. The condition of the second pedestrian is unknown. Authorities later apprehended the driver of the vehicle. The driver was identified as 30-year-old Sierra Holliday. Holliday is facing several charges for her actions, including felony hit-and-run and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
