Gaston Co., NC (February 27, 2024) – The Gaston County Police Department has confirmed that the victim who lost their life in the motor vehicle accident on Saturday evening was identified as Randy Herring.
Preliminary reports indicate that at around 10:15 p.m. on February 24, an officer with the Gaston County Police Department was responding to a call when their vehicle collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of West Franklin Boulevard and Gaston Avenue. The impact of the collision sent the pickup truck off the road, where it struck a pole. The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Herring, was fatally injured in the accident. He was pronounced deceased by authorities. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
