Fatal Auto Accidents in South Carolina
Fatal accidents take place far too often in our states. Each year, these incidents take the lives of tens of thousands of people across the United States. In many cases, fatal collisions are a result of driver negligence. Speeding, distractions, impairment, and other reckless actions continue to cause these accidents every day. After losing a loved one, your family can take legal action by pursuing a wrongful death claim. This claim can provide financial relief for various damages you face. These include:
- Funeral and burial expenses: One of the most immediate financial burdens in the aftermath of a wrongful death is the cost of the funeral and burial. These expenses can quickly add up, including the cost of caskets, flowers, funeral home services, and transportation. A wrongful death claim can help your family cover these expenses, alleviating some of the financial stress during this difficult time.
- Loss of Income: If your loved one was the breadwinner of the family, their passing can result in a significant loss of income. This loss can include not only their salary but also any potential bonuses, benefits, or retirement plans. A wrongful death claim can help compensate your family for the loss of income, providing financial stability and preventing further economic hardship.
- Emotional Distress: A wrongful death claim recognizes this suffering and can include compensation for emotional distress. This compensation can help your family cope with the pain and trauma caused by the loss, enabling them to receive appropriate mental health care and support.
Working with a seasoned, reputable wrongful death lawyer can help to ensure that your family is able to maximize the compensation you recover for these and other damages that you face during this difficult time. Your attorney will help you gather all of the evidence necessary to prove that the defendant was at fault in the fight to ensure they are held accountable.
