Guilford Co., NC (February 7, 2024) – One person lost their life as a result of a fatal collision that occurred in Guilford County on Tuesday morning, February 6. The North Carolina Department of Transportation reported that the automobile accident occurred at 11:40 a.m.
According to reports provided by law enforcement, a collision occurred on Interstate 85 Business. The incident prompted the closure of the roadway near Riverdale Drive. The accident caused extensive delays on the southbound side of the road. Authorities confirmed that a work van and a passenger vehicle were both stopped on the southbound side of the roadway. For unknown reasons, a box truck crashed into the rear of the passenger vehicle. The force of the collision caused the passenger vehicle to strike the van. Multiple people were injured as a result of the accident and rushed to an area hospital for emergency care. One person suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased by authorities. At this time, investigations into the crash are ongoing.
