Harnett Co., NC (February 11, 2024) – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed that a Fort Liberty soldier lost his life as a result of a car crash that took place overnight in Harnett County. The incident occurred on February 10.
According to reports, 23-year-old Nathan Whorton, a sergeant with the 82nd Airborne, was driving on Overhills Road when he became involved in a collision. As a result, his vehicle went off the roadway and collided with a tree. Whorton incurred fatal injuries after being ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
