Henderson Co., NC (December 26, 2023) – A woman lost her life as a result of an automobile accident that took place in Henderson County early Monday morning, December 25. The North Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the accident at approximately 12:30 a.m.
According to official reports, Pamela Alexander of Whitmire, North Carolina, struck a cone in a construction zone while traveling near mile marker 46 on Interstate 26. As a result, she stopped her vehicle in order to try to remove the cone.
A person in the area stopped to help with the removal of the cone after Alexander fell out of the vehicle. She was then struck by a tractor-trailer traveling through the area. The truck driver fled the scene without stopping. Alexander sustained fatal injuries due to the accident and was pronounced deceased. At this time, the crash is being investigated.
