Lillington, NC (March 29, 2024) – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed that one man lost his life as a result of a head-on collision that occurred on Tuesday morning in Harnett County. Authorities were called to the scene of the accident on March 26.
According to official reports, a Kia Forte and a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD pickup truck collided head-on near the intersection of Raynor-McLamb Road and Elliot Bridge Road. Authorities arrived at the scene and immediately closed down the roadway. The driver of the Kia, identified as 55-year-old Carl Edwin Chapman, was pinned in the vehicle. He was extricated by authorities and pronounced deceased by paramedics while at the scene. Two other people involved in the accident were injured. Emergency medical services provided treatment to 31-year-old Lonnie Reid Setzer Jr. and 41-year-old Willie Stacy Carter. The two victims were transported to area hospitals for medical care. The incident is currently being investigated by law enforcement.
