Lumberton, NC (April 10, 2024) – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a crash that occurred in the Lumberton area and claimed the life of a young child. The accident was reported at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, April 5.
According to official reports, a Dodge sedan was traveling in the area of Balance Farm Road and Shaw Mill Road when it collided with a 1999 GMC pickup truck. The pickup truck came to rest on the shoulder of the roadway. The Dodge went off the right side of the roadway and collided with a ditch. The driver of the Dodge and a 9-year-old passenger were both injured in the accident and transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center by Robeson County EMS. The child passed away from her injuries after arriving. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
