Matthews, NC (October 25, 2023) – The police, firefighters, and EMS out of Matthews responded to the scene of an automobile accident that ultimately claimed the life of a bicyclist.
The incident occurred at around 12:45 p.m. on October 22.
According to official reports, a bicyclist was riding in the 300 block of Matthews Township Parkways during the afternoon hours. For reasons that are yet to be determined, they were struck by a vehicle that was passing through the area.
The bicyclist sustained injuries as a result of the accident. The victim was rushed by EMS to a local hospital for the treatment of life-threatening injuries. Authorities confirmed that the bicyclist passed away from their injuries.
Authorities identified the victim as 67-year-old Bruce Alan Davis.
The incident is being investigated.
