Murrells Inlet, SC (July 26, 2024) – Authorities confirmed that 75-year-old Luther Rivers lost his life as a result of a fatal crash reported in Georgetown County. The collision occurred at around 6:00 p.m. on July 20.
According to official reports, Rivers was traveling on Highway 17 in a 2011 Honda Accord during the evening hours. For unknown reasons, the vehicle collided with a 2023 Subaru Outback on Highway 17 near Highway 17 Business. The incident prompted the closure of the roadway. Rivers was immediately pronounced deceased by authorities. A passenger in his vehicle and the driver of the Subaru both sustained injuries and were transported to area hospitals. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
