Ocracoke, NC (February 14, 2024) – Authorities confirmed that 61-year-old Warren Howard Frantz lost his life as a result of a fatal collision that occurred on February 13.
During the morning hours, Frantz and his wife Janet were traveling to catch an 11:00 a.m. ferry that was leaving Ocracoke. As the vehicle proceeded down North Carolina Highway 12, it became involved in a collision. The roadway became overwashed and took the vehicle off the side of the road, where it landed. Frantz was trapped in the vehicle and had to be removed by firefighters. He sustained fatal injuries as a result of the incident. He was pronounced deceased by authorities. Janet Frantz was injured in the accident and transported by Hyde County EMS to a local hospital for emergency treatment. At this time, the Hyde County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
