Okatie, SC (June 28, 2024) – A pedestrian has died as a result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Monday evening in the Okatie area. That crash occurred at around 10:30 p.m. on June 24.
According to area reports, a pedestrian was walking on South Carolina Highway 170 during the evening hours. As they proceeded through the area near the US Highway 278 Interchange, they were struck by a Toyota Camry. The Toyota fled the scene without stopping. The pedestrian, identified as 32-year-old Nancy Carrion-Gallegos, was pronounced deceased by authorities while still on-site. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
