Sumter Co., SC (March 14, 2024) – A multivehicle accident reported on Tuesday claimed one person’s life. The incident occurred at around 3:45 p.m. on March 12.
According to reports from the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2019 Chevrolet pickup truck was heading northbound on US Highway 521. As the vehicle proceeded through the intersection of Spencer Road, it collided with a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu and a 2001 Lincoln Town Car. The incident prompted the closure of the roadway as emergency crews worked to remove the involved vehicles. The driver of the Lincoln sustained fatal injuries in the crash. The victim was pronounced deceased by authorities. The driver of the pickup truck was injured and transported to a local hospital. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
