Toombs Co., GA (July 1, 2024) – On Friday afternoon, the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a fatal accident that claimed one person’s life. The incident took place on June 28 on US Highway 1 South.
According to local law enforcement, 34-year-old Roberto Cabecera was driving a semi-truck tractor-trailer on US Highway 1 S. during the afternoon hours. As he proceeded through the area near CH Slaton Road, he struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian, identified as 44-year-old William Michael Hadlock, was fatally injured in the crash. He was immediately pronounced deceased. No other injuries were reported. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
