Yadkin Co., NC (November 9, 2023) – A pedestrian lost his life as a result of a fatal accident in Yadkin County.
On November 6, the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of a major accident that occurred on US Highway 601.
Reports provided by authorities show that between 9:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m., 41-year-old Christopher Eugene Phillips was traveling on US Highway 601 when he was struck by a van. The van fled the scene of the accident.
Phillips suffered severe injuries due to the crash. He was subsequently pronounced deceased.
Authorities later located the van and arrested the driver, 25-year-old Lance William Whitaker. He is facing charges of felony hit and run.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
