Bryan County, GA (October 20, 2023) – A fatal accident reported in Bryan County on Wednesday prompted authorities to shut down the highway for several hours while assisting at the scene.
On October 18, calls for help came in regarding a collision on Interstate 16.
Reports show that a van and a semi-truck were involved in a rear-end accident as one of the vehicles re-entered the roadway from the shoulder. The impact of the crash caused one of the two passengers in the semi-truck to be ejected from their vehicle.
Two people involved in the crash were transported to local hospitals for the treatment of serious injuries.
One person ended up passing away as a result of the injuries they suffered. However, authorities have not yet identified the victim. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
