Greenwood, SC (December 27, 2023) – A fatal accident reported in the Greenwood area claimed the lives of two people. The accident was reported to law enforcement on December 25 just after 4:10 p.m.
According to local law enforcement, a 3-wheeled moped was involved in a collision with a commercial truck, which was towing a wood chipper trailer. Authorities confirmed that the commercial truck was attempting to make a left turn off South Emerald Road and onto North Emerald Road when the two vehicles collided. The driver of the moped incurred fatal injuries due to the crash. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger was flown by helicopter to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital for emergency care. Authorities confirmed that the victim passed away after arriving. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
