Berkeley Co., SC (January 9, 2024) – A pedestrian accident reported in Berkeley County over the weekend claimed one person’s life. On January 6, emergency officials were called to the scene of an automobile accident that took place on US Highway 176.
Preliminary crash investigations show that Samuel Lorenzo was driving on the highway when he struck two pedestrians in the area near Jedburg Road. Lorenzo fled the scene of the crash without stopping. One of the pedestrians, identified as 22-year-old Maquis Abigael Ramos Ramos, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second victim was rushed to an area hospital for emergency treatment. Lorenzo was later apprehended by authorities. He currently faces charges for hit-and-run with minor personal injury, open container, hit-and-run accident with death, and driving without a license. Investigations are currently ongoing.
