Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in South Carolina
In 2022, more than 7500 people died as a result of pedestrian accidents across the United States. Far too often, innocent pedestrians lose their lives as a result of drivers who fail to control their vehicles in a safe manner. When drivers are reckless, particularly when traveling near pedestrians, they are likely to cause severe harm or even kill them.
We see many pedestrian accidents take place as a result of drivers who are distracted. When drivers are not paying attention to the road ahead, particularly during the overnight hours, they may not see pedestrians traveling nearby. Another common factor in many pedestrian accidents is failing to yield the right-of-way. When drivers do not yield to pedestrians, they can cause devastating accidents that ultimately take their lives.
We also see many pedestrian accidents take place as a result of drivers who do not stop at stop signs or run past red lights. When drivers do not stop for traffic control devices, they can cause severe accidents that claim the lives of innocent victims.
