Laurens Co., SC (December 5, 2023) – One person died as a result of a fire that took place during the morning hours in Laurens County. Emergency officials were called to the scene of the incident at around 9:05 a.m. on December 3.
According to reports provided by the Laurens County Fire Department, a house fire occurred on Ekom Beach Road during the morning hours. The incident prompted the response of the Hickory Tavern Fire Department, the Western Laurens Fire Department, and the Ware Shoals Fire Department. Firefighters went to work quickly to battle the blaze. A 52-year-old man in the home, identified as John Bowyer, was fatally injured. At this time, the cause of the fire is being investigated.
