Montgomery Co., NC (December 27, 2023) – An 18-year-old girl lost her life as a result of an automobile accident that occurred on Saturday evening in Montgomery County. The crash took place just after 7:30 p.m. on December 23.
According to reports from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, authorities were in pursuit of a Chevrolet Camaro for speeding while traveling on Albemarle Road. The vehicle fled the scene, prompting a police chase. As the vehicle proceeded down North Carolina Highway 134, it struck a Mustang, which was turning into a driveway. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the Camaro crossed over the center line before striking the vehicle.
The driver of the Mustang, identified as a 17-year-old girl, was airlifted and flown to an area hospital with serious injuries. In 18-year-old passenger, identified as Raegon Blackmon, was rushed to an area hospital, where she passed away from her injuries. The driver of the Camaro, identified as 22-year-old Detavius Legrand, and his passenger were both seriously injured. The two victims were transported by ambulance to area hospitals. At this time, the crash is under investigation by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
