Fatal Car Accidents in South Carolina
Fatal car accidents take the lives of countless people every day in South Carolina. The unfortunate truth is that the majority of these accidents can be prevented. Families are often forced to deal with overwhelming consequences as a result of fatal accidents caused by speeding drivers, drivers who are impaired, and other acts of negligence.
In South Carolina, the law allows specific family members, usually surviving spouses, children, or parents, to file a wrongful death claim. This legal action seeks to hold responsible parties accountable for the fatal accident, whether due to negligence, reckless driving, or other wrongful acts. These claims can help families recover some of the damages resulting from their loved one’s untimely death.
The damages that can be recovered in a South Carolina wrongful death claim include compensation for medical expenses related to the accident, funeral and burial costs, and loss of financial support that the deceased would have provided. Families can also seek compensation for the emotional pain and suffering they endure due to their loss.
