Athens-Clarke Co., GA (January 17, 2024) – The Athens Clarke County Police Department confirmed that a baby died as a result of a motor vehicle accident that took place on Thursday. The accident occurred just before 6:00 p.m.
According to official reports, an Amazon delivery truck was traveling on the roadway during the evening hours. For unknown reasons, it turned into the path of a pickup truck, resulting in the two vehicles colliding. A 41-year-old woman, who was pregnant at the time, was severely injured in the crash. The woman was rushed to an area hospital for emergency treatment. Authorities confirmed that the baby was subsequently delivered. However, they passed away from their injuries. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
