Augusta, GA (November 16, 2023) – Authorities across Richmond County were called to the scene of an automobile accident that took place on the south side of Augusta. On November 13, calls for help came to the Augusta Police Department regarding a crash on the Mike Padgett Highway.
According to reports provided by local news sources, just before 3:00 a.m., a pedestrian was walking on the southbound side of the highway when they were struck by a vehicle in the area near Phinizy Road. The vehicle was heading south on the roadway at the time of the collision. The pedestrian incurred fatal injuries as a result of the accident. The victim was pronounced deceased by Richmond County coroner Mark Bowen. Investigations into the crash are underway.
