Berkeley Co., SC - Guclu Yertut ID’d as Fatal Hwy 17A Collision Victim

Berkeley Co., SC (March 13, 2024) – Berkeley County Coroner Darnell Hartwell identified Guclu Yertut, a 54-year-old resident of Georgetown, as the driver who lost their life as a result of the motor vehicle accident that occurred on March 10.

The collision involving two vehicles occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Sunday in Berkeley County. According to official reports, Yertut was operating a 2014 Kia Soul while traveling north on U.S. Highway 17A in the Bonneau area. For unknown reasons, the vehicle collided head-on with a 2024 Mitsubishi SUV at the intersection of Diamondback Lane. Yertut was pronounced dead at the scene by Hartwell. The driver of the SUV was injured in the accident and was transported to an area hospital for emergency care. The incident is currently under investigation.
