Burke Co., NC – Fatal Head-On Crash on Rhodhiss Rd at Brown Circle

Burke Co., NC (May 26, 2024) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Burke County on Friday evening claimed one person’s life. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol was called to the scene of the incident at around 5:00 p.m. on May 24.

Preliminary investigations show that a 2016 Toyota Tacoma was traveling westbound on Rhodiss Road during the evening hours. As the vehicle crash passed through the area near Brown Circle, it crossed over the center line and collided head-on with a 1997 Kia Sportage. The driver of the Kia, 42-year-old Lori Jean Ward, was fatally injured in the crash. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Tacoma, a 60-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital. At this time, the Burke County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the crash.
