Columbia, SC (May 6, 2024) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed that one person died as a result of a fatal accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon, May 4. Authorities were called to the scene of the accident at around 1:20 p.m.

Official reports indicate that a 2004 Toyota Tacoma was traveling eastbound on Jalapa Road when it became involved in a collision. The impact of the crash sent the vehicle off the roadway near Eden Road, where it collided with a ditch and then struck a tree. A passenger in the vehicle was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. Other victims were transported to hospitals in the area for emergency medical care. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
