Horry Co., SC (July 10, 2024) – A pedestrian has died as a result of a fatal accident that occurred early Wednesday morning in Horry County. The South Carolina Highway Patrol was called to the scene of the accident at around 2:15 a.m. on July 10.
According to official reports, a pedestrian was walking across Highway 17 Bypass during the morning hours. As they proceeded through the Surfside Beach area, they were struck by a 2002 Lexus 4-door, which was traveling north on the roadway near Wood Thrush Drive. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping. The pedestrian, who has not been publicly identified, was struck by one additional vehicle on the road. The victim was fatally injured and pronounced deceased by authorities. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
