Lincolnton, NC (February 11, 2024) – A head-on collision reported in the Lincolnton area early Wednesday morning claimed one person’s life. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol was notified of the collision at around 3:15 a.m. on February 7.

According to official reports, a head-on collision between a 2008 Toyota Scion and a 2021 Peterbilt tractor-trailer took place on North Carolina Highway 73. The crash prompted the closure of the roadway near Ralph Ward Trail. Authorities remained at the scene for a significant amount of time while working to clear the road. The driver of the Toyota, identified as 36-year-old Timothy Kent McDaniel Jr., incurred fatal injuries in the accident. He was pronounced deceased by authorities. The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as a 55-year-old male, was not injured. Investigations into the accident are ongoing.
