Nags Head, NC (July 7, 2024) – A man from the Outer Banks area lost his life as a result of a fatal accident that occurred in Nags Head. The incident took place just before midnight.
Official reports indicate that 63-year-old Scott William Dawson was pushing a bicycle over Washington Baum Bridge while heading towards Nags Head. As he proceeded through the area, he was struck by a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. Dawson was severely hurt in the accident and rushed to an area hospital. Authorities confirmed that he passed away from his injuries just before noon while at the Outer Banks hospital. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 44-year-old Mark Thomas Sullivan, was subsequently charged with felony hit-and-run inflicting serious injury or death and other driver violations. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
