Fatal Car Accidents in North Carolina
Fatal car accidents claim the lives of numerous individuals in North Carolina annually. Unfortunately, these incidents bring about significant financial, mental, and emotional repercussions for affected families. Following the loss of a loved one in a fatal accident, you have the option to initiate a wrongful death claim against the accountable party.
Contributory negligence, a legal principle in North Carolina, can significantly influence the outcome of a wrongful death lawsuit. Simply put, contributory negligence laws in our states indicate that if an individual’s actions or conduct in any way contributed to their injury or death, they might be barred from seeking damages.
This implies that even if another party was primarily responsible for the accident, the family may be unable to recover compensation if the deceased person is found to have been even slightly negligent. For this reason, it is crucial for your family to secure legal representation from a wrongful death attorney in North Carolina. Your lawyer will work to collect evidence and investigate the accident to establish that the defendant bears responsibility for the occurrence of the accident.
