Fatal Car Accidents in South Carolina

Seneca, SC – Crash on Richland Rd Takes One Life, Injures OneThe unexpected loss of a loved one can be incredibly difficult to deal with. Unfortunately, more than 100 people lose their lives in fatal collisions across our state every month. These accidents add up to more than 1700 people dying due to negligent and reckless drivers who often cause these accidents to occur. Speeding, distractions, and even impairment can have serious consequences for drivers on our roadway.

After losing a loved one, your family can file a wrongful death claim against the responsible party. A wrongful death claim can help your family recover compensation for the losses and damages you face.

In South Carolina, awards for damages are guided by the modified comparative negligence doctrine. This doctrine states that a person is able to recover compensation for damages caused by a fatal motor vehicle accident so long as the fault of the deceased party does not exceed 50 percent.

If your loved one was more than half responsible for the accident taking place, your family is prevented from seeking compensation. This makes it vital that you have a strong Seneca wrongful death lawyer by your side to help guide your family and fight for justice on your behalf.
