Spartanburg, SC (May 14, 2024) – A fatal accident reported on Sunday afternoon claimed one person’s life. The South Carolina Highway Patrol was called to the scene of the accident at around 1:40 p.m. on May 12.
Official reports show that a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling north along the US Highway 221. At the same time, a 2023 GMC SUV was traveling eastbound on Davis Trading Post Road. As the two vehicles proceeded through the intersection, the SUV attempted to make a left turn onto the highway. As a result, both vehicles collided. The SUV driver was injured in the accident and transported to Spartanburg Regional Hospital for medical care. The motorcyclist was also transported to the same hospital. Authorities confirmed that the motorcyclist died after arriving. The victim was identified as Charlton Scott Connell, age 55. The crash is being investigated.
