Ulmer, SC (October 21, 2023) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Allendale County on Thursday claimed one person’s life. The South Carolina Highway Patrol was called to the scene of the crash at approximately 6:45 a.m. on October 20.

Reports provided by Highway Patrol show that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on US Highway 301 near South Carolina Highway 300, just one mile south of Omer. A 2001 Ford Explorer was heading southbound on the highway when it struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian, who was not identified by the police, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Ford, who remained at the scene, was not injured.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is actively investigating the incident.
