Union, SC (March 19, 2024) – The Union County Coroner confirmed that 19-year-old Carol Santiago lost her life as a result of a fatal accident that occurred in Union County on Saturday, March 16. The incident occurred at around 4:10 p.m.

According to reports from Highway Patrol, a pickup truck was traveling northbound on Highway 9 when it collided head-on with a sedan, which was traveling south on the roadway near Kelly Road. The drivers of both vehicles were injured and transported to area hospitals for emergency care. A passenger in the sedan, identified as Santiago, was pronounced deceased while on site. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
