Wallace, NC (December 13, 2023) – The North Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a major motor vehicle accident that occurred in the Wallace area and claimed one person’s life. The accident took place at around 5:45 p.m. on December 10.
According to reports from Highway Patrol, 76-year-old Cornell Hall was driving east and a pickup truck on Highway 41. For unknown reasons, his vehicle crossed over the center line near Cypress Hole Road and crashed head-on into a second vehicle. The second vehicle driver, identified as Rebecca Rachlin, was fatally injured in the accident. She was pronounced dead by responding authorities. Hole was injured in the accident and transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for emergency care. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
