Winston-Salem, NC (December 14, 2023) – One person has lost their life as a result of a fatal collision that took place in the Winston-Salem area on Wednesday morning, December 13. The accident was reported to the Winston-Salem Police Department at approximately 1110 a.m.
According to reports provided by the police, a truck was heading northbound on Reynolda Road during the morning hours. At the same time, a moped was traveling southbound on the same roadway. The truck driver, for unknown reasons, attempted to make a left turn into a shopping center. As a result, the truck struck the moped. Authorities arrived at the scene and located the moped and a Ford F150 pickup truck blocking the road.
The moped driver, identified as 76-year-old J Jesus Chavez Arceo, incurred fatal injuries in the accident. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Ford, 65-year-old Walter Ship Jr., was not injured. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
