Aiken, SC (April 1, 2024) – One person lost their life as a result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred in Aiken on Saturday evening, March 30. The accident was reported to Aiken County officials at around 10:20 p.m.
According to reports from the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, a 2013 Dodge Charger was traveling east on Richland Avenue during the evening hours. For unknown reasons, the vehicle collided with a westbound ambulance out of Aiken County. The ambulance was turning onto Augusta Road at the time of the accident. The driver of the charger, identified as 20-year-old Alonzo Carter, was fatally injured in the accident. He was pronounced deceased by authorities. The EMS crew sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical care. At this time, the Sheriff’s office is investigating.
