Cherokee Co., GA (April 1, 2024) – The Cherokee County coroner’s office confirmed that 57-year-old Bobby Wayne Carter lost his life as a result of a fire incident that occurred Friday morning in Cherokee County.
According to official reports, at around 5:00 a.m. on March 29, emergency officials were called to the scene of a fire incident. Investigations show that Carter was inside an aluminum camper located on East Frederick Street during the early morning hours. For unknown reasons, the camper caught on fire, resulting in significant damage. The Gaffney Fire and Police immediately went to work assisting at the scene. Firefighters battled the blaze as police secured the roadway. Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters were able to enter the location, where they discovered Carter inside. He was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries. At this time, the State Law Enforcement Division and the South Carolina Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating.
