Catawba Co., NC (February 19, 2024) – A young child has lost their life as a result of an automobile accident that occurred on Saturday evening in Catawba County. The accident was reported to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol at around 7:30 p.m. on February 17.
According to official reports, a 2001 Saturn passenger car was traveling south on Buffalo Shoals Road when it struck a pedestrian. Authorities arrived at the scene and closed down the roadway near Abernathy Williams Road. The pedestrian, identified as a two-year-old, was critically injured in the crash. A helicopter responded to the scene to transport the young boy to a local hospital for emergency care. Authorities confirmed that the child passed away from his injuries after arriving at the hospital. No other injuries were reported. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
