Cobb Co., GA (March 9, 2024) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Cobb County claimed the lives of two individuals early Saturday morning, March 9. The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Interstate 75, near the Marietta Parkway.

According to authorities, a black 2016 Acura ILX, driven by 33-year-old Carl Moore from Lake Park, crashed into the rear end of a black 2023 Chrysler Pacifica, operated by 62-year-old Susan Wals from Hudsonville, Michigan. Following the impact, the Chrysler came to a halt on the right shoulder while the Acura continued to rotate into oncoming traffic. Subsequently, a black 2015 Audi Q5, which was driven by 44-year-old Brandon Weaver from Marietta, collided with the Acura.

A white 2022 Freightliner Cascadia truck, driven by 23-year-old Sukhpreet Singh from Brampton, Ontario, then crashed into both vehicles. Two passengers in the Acura, identified as Carl Moore and James Mettle, both sustained fatal injuries. The two victims were pronounced deceased at the scene. Weaver and his passenger, Monica Wilburn, both suffered serious injuries. They were transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for emergency care. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
