Effingham Co., GA (November 22, 2023) – The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that one person lost their life as a result of a crash that occurred in Effingham County on Monday. At around 12:15 p.m. on November 20, emergency officials were summoned to the scene of a crash on Highway 30.
Reports show that 41-year-old Matthew Bargeron was driving westbound on Highway 30 when his vehicle collided with a commercial vehicle near the intersection of Glenwood Drive. The incident prompted the police to shut down the roadway as they worked to remove the involved vehicles.
Bargeron was severely hurt in the crash. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported. The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit is investigating the crash at this time.
