Fatal Auto Wrecks in South Carolina
Dealing with the aftermath of a fatal accident is an incredibly challenging ordeal for families. The sudden and unexpected loss of a loved one can have overwhelming consequences, both emotionally and financially. During these challenging times, family members or personal representatives of the deceased have the right to take legal action to seek compensation for damages resulting from wrongful death.
Economic compensation aims to address the financial losses incurred as a result of the death. This includes covering medical expenses incurred by the deceased or their family members due to the incident leading to death, as well as lost wages and potential future earnings. Additionally, economic damages may include lost benefits, social security benefits, inheritance, funeral, burial expenses, and other financial impacts experienced by the family due to the death.
Non-economic compensation, on the other hand, seeks to address the emotional distress endured by the family. This category encompasses grief, suffering, and the loss of companionship, consortium, parental guidance, and sorrow. Determining the value of non-economic damages can be challenging, as it can be difficult to prove, from an economic standpoint, the emotional impact experienced by the family after losing a loved one. Seeking help from a South Carolina wrongful death lawyer right away will provide your family with the best chance of protecting your rights and getting justice.
