Harnett Co., NC (February 8, 2024) – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed that Deputy Chris Johnson lost his life as a result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon, February 6.

Preliminary investigations show that just before 3:00 p.m., Johnson was driving his Dodge Charger on Darroch Road when the vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer near North Carolina Highway 210. The force of the collision caused Johnson’s patrol vehicle to rotate and strike one additional vehicle.

Two people in the vehicle were transported to area hospitals for the treatment of injuries. Johnson suffered fatal injuries in the accident. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigations into the accident are currently underway.
