Lizella, GA (February 8, 2024) – The Georgia State Patrol confirmed that 40-year-old Timothy Tavarus Rivers, a Georgia Deputy, lost his life as a result of a motor vehicle accident that took place late Tuesday evening, February 6.
At around 10:00 p.m., Rivers was responding to a call when his vehicle collided head-on with a second vehicle on Marshall Mill Road, just 20 miles southwest of Macon. The crash prompted authorities to close the road at the intersection of Chapman Road. Rivers was severely injured in the accident. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The other driver was injured in the accident and transported to a local hospital for medical care. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is working to determine the cause of the crash.
