Robeson Co., NC (December 25, 2023) – A helicopter crash reported in Robeson County on Friday afternoon claimed one person’s life. On December 22, emergency officials were requested to provide help on-site at a crash on Philadelphus Road.

According to reports provided by authorities, a home-built Mosquito XEL ultra-light helicopter was flying in the vicinity of Philadelphus Road just outside of the Pembroke area during the afternoon hours when it became involved in a collision. The incident prompted authorities to shut calls off the roadway for an extended period as they worked to clear the scene. One person involved in the crash was fatally injured and pronounced deceased by the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office. Investigations into the crash are ongoing by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office and the National Transportation Safety Board.
