Sumter Co., SC (February 20, 2024) – The South Carolina State Highway Patrol ID’d 45-year-old Eric Hazzard as the victim who lost their life in the motor vehicle accident that occurred on Friday morning, February 16.
Preliminary investigations show that just before 2:00 a.m., a 2020 Honda sedan was traveling south on US Highway 15 when it became involved in a collision. The impact of the crash caused the vehicle to go off the roadway and strike a pole. One person involved in the accident, identified as Hazzard, was pronounced deceased while at the scene. Authorities remained at the scene of the incident for a significant amount of time as they worked to clear the roadway near Manning Avenue. Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
